A man has been charged for a shoplifting offence in Penrith today after members of the Eden Neighbourhood Policing team responded to a report of shoplifting where a male has stolen pokemon cards from Sainsburys.
The shoplifting was reported through Penrith shop watch scheme, that allowed officers to start the investigation immediately rather than call the police control room. The staff at Penrith Train Station used the radio system to tell the officers they believe the man involved was about to board the train.
Police apprehended the man and arrested him. The stolen items were recovered and the man charged for the shoplifting. Investigations revealed the man had also been involved in shoplifting in Ambleside yesterday leading to further charges.
