Man and Woman from Carlisle Charged after Shoplifting in Penrith on Tuesday

Two people have been charged with theft after reports of shoplifting at two retail premises in Penrith on Tuesday 1st July after police arrested 3 people on suspicion of shoplifting from multiple stores in Penrith.

A man and a woman both from Carlisle were detained at the scene by Eden Neighbourhood Policing officers shortly after police received the report from businesses in the town.

Heather Rae, aged 46, of Durranhill Road, Carlisle and Martin Bainbridge , aged 42, of Margaret Creighton Gardens, Carlisle have been charged with theft.

Both are due to appear before Carlisle Magistrates Court on the 4th August 2025.

A spokesperson for Eden Neighbourhood Police team said “Please don't come to Eden, to commit crime. We will catch you!.”
