M6 Southbound J39 - J38 Closed for Emergency Resurfacing after Fuel Spillage

The M6 closed southbound between J39 (Shap) and J38 (Tebay) for emergency resurfacing due to a diesel spillage on the carriageway. 

Resurfacing works will take place overnight. 

Diversion Route

Road users are advised to follow the Hollow Circle diversion symbol on road signs.

Exit the M6 at J39 and turn right onto the B6261 link road to access the A6

At Shap Toll Bar junction turn left onto the A6 southbound

In Kendal, follow the A6 (Wildman Street and Stramongate)

Join the A65 and follow onto Aynam Road and continue to the roundabout at Romney Road

Take the third exit from roundabout signed Lancaster A6 (M6)

At Romney Road traffic signals, turn left onto the A6 southbound

South of Kendal, take the first roundabout exit onto the A591 southbound

Follow A591 and A590 to re-join the M6 at J36
