M6 South of Penrith closed due to Vehicle Fire

The M6 south of J40 is closed at Clifton with police holding all traffic while fire crews tackle the fire.

Three fire engines and crew in breathing apparatus are tackling the blaze that has closed the M6 Southbound.

 

Emergency services received the call to the fire at 15:57 with two appliances from Penrith and one appliance from Shap mobilised to the vehicle fire.

The fire was extinguished using four BA (Breathing Apparatus) wearers, two hose reel jets and CAFS (compressed air foam system).
