Drivers are being reminded the M6 Northbound will be closed tonight (Saturday 8th November) between 10pm and 6am. The Northbound closures on the M6 will be in place between junction 39 Shap and junction 40 at Penrith overnight as part of a weekend of planned closures as part of ongoing work on Lowther Bridge.
The M6 will be closed overnight on both carriageways this weekend:
Saturday 8th November: Northbound closed between junctions 39 and 40.
Sunday 9th November: Southbound closed between junctions 40 and 39.
The closures will be in place from 10pm to 6am, with clearly signed diversions via the A6 between Penrith and Shap. Speed reduction measures will be in operation along the A6 to help minimise disruption to nearby communities.
National Highways has warned that residents may notice some additional noise during the works.
A spokesperson said:
“We’d like to apologise in advance for any disturbance caused. The planned closures can change at short notice.”
The work forms part of ongoing investment in the M6 to maintain the safety and reliability of one of the region’s busiest routes.
