The annual meeting of the parish of Penrith will take place next Monday 18th May at 6pm Penrith Town Council have announced.
The Annual Parish Meeting is not a Town Council meeting but a meeting of the local electorate with the agenda for an annual parish meeting a standard one, to give reports on the business of the last 12 months, Penrith Mayor Cllr Valerie Bowen will chair the Penrith annual parish meeting and give a presentation on what the Town Council has been doing, and about projects and priorities going forward.
The annual parish meeting is also an opportunity for residents in the Penrith parish to question the town council and organisations on any issues relating to the town. As the Annual Parish Meeting is not a town council meeting it is not conducted in the same way or governed by the same rules as a parish council meeting allowing members of the public to make statements on relevant matters during the meeting and a parish poll can be called on any items raised and is used in the meeting.
Following the annual parish meeting at 7pm Penrith Town Council will hold its Annual General Meeting with the first order of business for councillors to elect a chair and new Mayor of Penrith for next year along with a vice chair and deputy Mayor and appointments of councillors to outside communities and organisations.
The annual parish meeting will be held at Unit 2, Church House, Friargate, Penrith between 6:00pm - 7:00pm followed by her annual town council meeting starting at 7pm.
