Storm Ashley is forecast to continue to impact the area through Sunday Night into Monday morning.

08:05 - No major delays or blockages on roads around Penrith with the exception of a tree still partially blocking the A686 Penrith to Langwathby road.
08:00 - Trains and busses are all running on or close to timetables this morning with no impact to services from Storm Ashley
08:00 - All but one flood warnings and alerts have now been cancelled across Cumbria. Only on for Derwent Water current remains in place.
05:00 - A66 now fully reopen in both directions.
03:45 - The winds have now subsided but rain is expected to last until around 7am
00:45 - A66 currently closed in both directions to all traffic between Bowes and Brough is expected to reopen in both directions by 04:30 Monday (21st Oct).

20:35 - Storm Ashely winds start to increase
The Met Office has said Storm Ashley winds have started to increase. The highest gusts as of 7.30pm were 81mph
20:30 - The A66 is closed eastbound between the A685 near Brough and the A67 near Bowes due to a lorry which has overturned in strong winds.
The westbound carriageway is still open, however restrictions are in place for high sided and vulnerable vehicles which are not permitted to travel on the road due to the winds.
Affected road users travelling across the Pennines are advised to plan ahead and consider alternate routes such as the A69.

19:30 - A686 between Langwathby and Penrith road closed due to half a lane blocked due to fallen tree.
18:35 - Met Office forecast are forcasting the heaviest rain is due to arrive in Cumbria around 8.30pm

17:00 - A66 Closed to High Sided Vehicles.
National Highway have closed the A66 to high sided vehicles as Storm Ashley brings strong winds to the area.
The closure is in place on the full stretch between Scotch Corner and Penrith currently.
16:40 - More Flood warning issued for Cumbrian coastline from St Bees Head to Haverigg, along the coast from North Head to Haverigg
High tides, strong winds and large waves are expected to cause flooding this afternoon.
Highest tide level is expected at 2:15 AM on 21/10/2024. Flooding is possible several hours either side of this time.
Areas most at risk include beachfront properties at Coulderton, Nethertown and Braystones. Low lying properties at Saltcoats, Ravenglass, A595 at Muncaster Mill Bridge and the Esk Estuary.
13:30 - The full force of Storm Asheley is now starting to hit Cumbria.
11:00 - The Environment Agency has issued eight flood warnings across Cumbria and is advising residents in effected areas to ‘start acting' now.

Flood warning have also been issued from Gretna to Silloth, between Longtown and Skinburness

Areas most at risk include Mossband Hall, Rockcliffe, Longburgh, Bowness-on-Solway, Anthorn, Angerton, Kirkbride, Skinburness and Silloth areas.
