Libdem win Penrith West By Election for Town Council

The votes have all been verified and counted in the Penrith Town council by election with four candidates having battled it out to gain the seat made vacant following the resignation in January of the former Independent Penrith West Council Mr Thomson.

The Westmorland and Furness deputy returning officer Paul Robinson announced the winner Susan Jane Davies - Liberal Democrats just after 11:57pm on Thursday evening at Penrith Leisure Centre. The count for the Cumbria PFCC continues for the votes cast across Eden continues with similar counts taking place at locations across Cumbria.

DAVIES, Jonathan - Putting People and Place First - 58  

DAVIES, Susan Jane - Liberal Democrats – 175

LAYCOCK, Phil - Conservative Party Candidate - 59

SENCIER, Daniel - Labour Party - 154

One ballot paper was rejected.

With Susan Jane Davies- Liberal Democrats elected to serve as a Penrith Town councillor until May 2027 when the next full town council elections are due to be held.

The total turnout was 20.03% with 447 votes cast by residents in Penrith West that had a total electorate eligible to vote in the ward of 2232.
