The M6 Northbound slip road on junction 40 will be closed from 10pm tonight (Monday 28th April) until 6am Tuesday morning along with carriageway closures on the M6 through J40 to north of the Penrith WestCoast main line bridge across the M6.
The slip road closure and lane closures are to allow Network Rail to carry out work on the railway bridge carrying the WestCoast mainline across the M6 into Penrith.
Vehicles needing to access the M6 Northbound will need to use junction 41 via Ullswater Road and the A6 through Penrith.
