HGV driver travelling on the A66 stopped by Cumbria police landed with £700 fine and six points on licence

Cumbria police on Monday (15th May) stopped a HGV that was traveling on the A66 as part of the forces targeting of 'Road Harm Hotspot'.

The driver was fined for three offences a total of £700, For offences which included driving without a tachograph and using a mobile phone whilst driving and driving with insufficient rest. Alongside the £700 fine the HGV driver also recived six points on their licence.

In a statement Cumbria Police said: "Officers patrolling the A66 as part of targeting 'Road Harm Hotspots' stopped a HGV yesterday evening. The driver received: 6 Points + £300 fine for using a phone, £300 fine for for driving without a tachograph,£100 fine for driving without sufficient rest."
