The heavy rain across the area is forecast to continue for the next few hours with the Met Office yellow weather warning for high winds and rain in place until 11pm.
The rain is causing flooding in some communities around Penrith already with some roads completely impassable due to heavy flooding.
Church lane in Greystoke is completely impassable due to flooding along with areas on the B5288 road between Penrith and Greystoke with large areas of water flooding off nearby fields.
The B5320 road between Tirril to Pooley Bridge also has flooding along the road.
On the edge of Penrith Mile Lane between the A66 and the B5288 Greystoke road has large areas of standing water along with areas of water flowing across the road from nearby fields into the beck.
Surface Water and Spray is also leading to difficult driving conditions on the M6 with two accidents earlier today on the M6 around J39.
The A66 also currently remains closed to High Sided Vehicles due to strong winds currently across the North Pennines.
