Heavy Rain Brings localised flooding to roads in Penrith

Heavy rain across the area on Thursday brought flooding to roads in and around Penrith with further rain forcast overnight.

Drivers on the A66 and Kemplay roundabout faced flooding across parts of the road as well as large amounts of surface water and spray. Parts of the roundabout still have standing water this evening.

Residents in the North of Penrith have faced a torrent of muddy water flowing through residential street from a near by housing development.

Heavy rain resulted in a torrent of muddy water flowing down onto and along the A6 into Raiselands Croft and PennyHill park and along Scotland Road from Chase Park overwhelming the drains in the area with the volume and filling the roads with the mix of sand mud and water.

The met office forecast is for further heavy rain across the area through the reminder of Thursday until the early hours of Friday morning.
