Four Weeks of Road Closures along Penrith Main Roads for Resurfacing Work Start Today

Four weeks of road closures along two busy roads in Penrith gets underway today (Monday 29th September) with the A592, Brunswick Road, from its roundabout junction with Cromwell Road extending to its junction with Bluebell Lane is closed form 7am today for one week to allow Westmorland and Furness Council to carry out resurfacing work along the section of road.

Access to Booths, WCF, Mountain Warehouse and Bluebell Lane Carpark will be maintained.

Diversion route are as follows;

North East Bound: Cromwell Road, Ullswater Road, A66 (Kemplay Bank Roundabout),

A686 (Carleton), Beacon Edge, Scotland Road, Stricklandgate and Corney Square.

South West Bound: Middlegate, Devonshire Street, Market Square, Corn Market,

Castlegate and Cromwell Road.

To maintain access to Bluebell Lane the car park the one-way restriction on Bluebell lane including the car park perimeter road has been temporarily suspended from its junction with Brunswick Road for their entire length.

Ass the work on Brunswick road is completed the council will close part of the A6 Scotland Road, from its junction with Salkeld Road to Stricklandgate along with residential streets along the route for resurfacing work the council expects to take three weeks to complete.

Alternative Route: via the:

North Bound: A6 Stricklandgate, Corney Place, A592 Brunswick Road, Cromwell Road,

A592 Ullswater Road, M6 Junction 40 Roundabout, A66 Kempley Bank Roundabout, A686

Beacon Edge & C3029 Salkeld Road.

South Bound: C3029 Salkeld Road, A686 Beacon Edge, A66 Kemplay Bank Roundabout,

M6 Junction 40 Roundabout, A492 Ullswater Road, Cromwell Road, A592 Brunswick

Road, A6 Duke Street and Stricklandgate.

The residential street closures and diversion routes are:

Harrison Street, from its junction with the A6 Scotland Road to its junction with

Foster Street.

Alternative Route: via Forster Street and Lark Lane.

Beatham Court for its entire length.

There is no suitable alternative diversion route available.

Drovers Lane, from its junction with the A6 Scotland Road, extending in an easterly direction for a distance of approx. 30m.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the Drovers Lane.

Lark Lane, from its junction with the A6 Scotland Road, south westerly direction for a distance of approx. 100m.

Alternative Route: via Foster Street and the unrestricted section of Lark Lane.

Robinson Street, from its junction with the A6 Scotland Road to Grey Bull Gardens.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the Robinson Street, Milton Street and

Raiselands Croft.

Raiselands Croft from its junction with the A6 Scotland Road to its junction with Milton Street.

Alternative Route: via the unrestricted section of the Raiselands Croft.

Monks Croft for its entire length.

There is no suitable alternative diversion route available.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times.
