Football Club Issues Red Card for Dog Fouling.

Castletown Recreation Ground home to Wetheriggs United Football Club with the recreation ground also used by a range of groups including children’s football groups and by the local community has fallen foul of inconsiderate dog owners letting dogs onto the sports ground and failing to clean up after them.

During a football game today, Wetheriggs United Football Club had to stop the game on two occasions, to clean up dog mess the pitch. Leading to the club issuing red card to dog owners over the fouling on the sports ground.

A spokes person for the club said “Not only is it disgusting behaviour from the dog owners.

It's also a health risk to the players and children that use the Recreation Ground.”

Castletown Recreation Ground is owned by Westmorland and Furness Council and is covered by a Dog Control Public Spaces Protection Orders that cover dog fouling on land and the exclusion of dogs from land.

As a result of the council’s public space protection order Castletown recreation ground is strictly no dogs allowed on the recreation ground at any time. Owners of any dog that enter the land or foul on the land without it being cleaned up by the owner, could be issue with a £100 Fixed Penalty Notice or may be liable, upon conviction.
