Not long left until 5pm tomorrow (Friday 1st August) to enter the Penrith.Town annual Scarecrow Competition that will take place this year between the 9th of August and 23rd of August.
The theme for the 2025 Penrith Scarecrow Competition is the 1980’s.
The era that gave us the Iron Lady, MTV, ET, Pop music, Punk rockers, Neon colours, Big Hair, Leg Warmers, Shoulder pads, Miami Vice, The A Team, Knight Rider, Dallas, Cabbage Patch Kids , Pac-Man, Roland rat, Mobile Phones, Personal computers, The Walkman, Breakfast TV, Rubik’s Cube, The UK also got a fourth TV channel as Channel 4 launched in 1982 and so much more.
The 2025 Penrith Scarecrow Competition is an opportunity for all households, streets, businesses, local group’s and organisations to get involved and take part by creating and displaying a scarecrow in a garden or outside businesses across the town.
Entries will be included on a town trail map to allow people to travel around the town and view all the scarecrows and vote as part of the judging
The Penrith Scarecrow Competition based around the 1980’s theme that can cover anything linked to decade that was the 1980’s.
You can enter now, free with no limits on the number of entries per property or age restrictions (Those under 16 must have parent's permission to enter)

The Penrith Town Scarecrow trail map will be available online and printed copies from the 8th of August.

Entries are open until 5pm Friday 1st August.
In the week before the start of the event each entry will receive an email with their unique QR code and voting number to display with the scarecrow so people can vote for their favourite.
