Emergency road closure on A592 at Kirkstone Pass

The A592 has been closed at High Kingate, approximately halfway between Troutbeck and the Kirkstone Inn, due to a significant landslip.

The emergency closure has been put in place today (Wednesday 5 November) after the landslip, caused by the recent heavy rain, partly undermined the carriageway.

To protect the travelling public, the road has been closed to allow technical and safety assessments to take place.

A signed diversion route is in place via the A6.

A spokesperson for Westmorland and Furness Council said: "Safety of road users is our main priority and this emergency closure is necessary to assess the situation and determine what needs to be done.

"Further updates will be provided when we know more."
