Emergency M6 Southbound Full Carriageway Closure Tonight between J40 and J39

An Emergency full carriageway closure M6 Southbound will be implemented tonight due to a collapsed gully in lane 3 on the southbound carriageway of the M6 within the Lowther Bridge/Clifton Bridge site, National Highway have just announced they will be implementing the full southbound carriageway closure tonight at 22:00hrs, between J40 Penrith & J39 Shap.

 The closure is the only way National Highways can safely access the gully with the current traffic management setup.

The carriageway will not be closed until 10pm and National Highways have said they will endeavour to complete the work as quickly as possible.

Traffic will be diverted via the A6 between J40 Penrith and J39 Shap during tonight’s emergency closure of the M6 for all southbound traffic.
