The driver of a car has been arrested after a police chase along the A6 Saturday afternoon that ended with the driver stopped and arrested in Clifton.
The police chase started at approximately 1:30pm on the A6 south of Penrith driver left the A6 at Hackthorpe with members of the public helping police by pointing them in the direction of the fleeing vehicle.
The car rejoined the A6 with police in pursuit of the car that overtook vehicles heading down into Clifton before taking a sharp turn of the A6 onto Valley a road in Clifton.
The vehicle was stopped by Police who searched the car under section 23 of the misuse of drugs act and arrested the driver for driving over the prescribed alcohol limit
Police have said the driver was also not insured to drive the vehicle and is set to appear in court.
Eden Police said: “Thank you to the members of public who pointed us in the right direction.”
“I can understand why the driver wanted to avoid us. We don’t take it personally, drive sober or get pulled over.”
