The team at Penrith Fire station along with Welliphant and Firefighter Sam greeted crowds on Saturday who came along to support the community fire station open day raising money for the Firefighters charity and giving everyone an opportunity to look around and see the equipment used by the fire crews including the change to use the fire hose and see demonstrations including a rooftop rescue by the crew from Carlisle East Fire Station who rescued Welliphant with an Aerial Ladder Platform (ALP) from the roof of the station practice building.
A fire demonstration showed the crew working to extinguish a fire and crowds also got an Air ambulance flyby on Saturday afternoon.
As part of the days fundraising activities the crowds enjoyed ice creams and refreshments, balloons, tattoos and the huge raffle that will continue to run for a few more day so you still have the opportunity to purchase tickets and be in with a chance to win one of the many prizes up for grabs and support the fundraising efforts.
The crew and staff of Penrith Fire Station, Welliphant and Firefighter Sam have said they “want to say a huge thank you to everyone that attended today's open day and to everyone that contributed.”
“It’s fair to say we've had an absolutely amazing day which we couldn't have done without you all.”
