Council Website Among Thousands of Websites Hit with Another Global Internet Glitch

Parts of the web appear have again stopped working today amid a technical problem at global internet firm Cloudflare.

Visitors to websites such as X, formerly known as Twitter, ChatGPT and parts of Westmorland and Furness Council website are currently receiving an error message about the Cloudflare issues with the webpages expected not show.

Cloudflare is an internet infrastructure that offers many of the core technologies that power today’s online experiences. That includes tools that protect websites from cyber attacks and ensure that they stay online amid heavy traffic, for instance.

In a short statement the company said:

“Cloudflare is aware of, and investigating an issue which potentially impacts multiple customers,” the company said in a new update. “Further detail will be provided as more information becomes available.”

OpenAI and Amazon Web Services were among other websites that were down.

Locally parts of Westmorland and Furness Councils website have gone down by the issues along with other local sites.

Problems began to occur at around 11am as of 1:30pm Internet problems with major global sites including social media sites including X (fromally Twitter) along with some apps and local business and council websites seems to be ongoing.
