Council Plans to Install 330 Solar Panels on Roof of Penrith Leisure Centre

Plans have been submitted for the installation of a 330 panel solar photovoltaic array on the roof of Penrith Leisure Centre by Westmorland and Furness Council.

The 330 new panel array will be installed as part of work  carry out repairs to the bowls hall roof and replacement / recovering of the sports hall roof.

An existing 400 panel array will be removed during the repair work but reinstalled along with the new 330 panel array.

The Council has receiving a grant from the government's swimming pool support fund for the installation of solar PV at Penrith Leisure Centre with the aim of the funding to improve the viability of the leisure facilities by reducing the energy consumption, and to support the leisure centre to transition to a position of environmental and financial sustainability.

The £608 thousand pound contract for delivery of the work was awarded by the council in January to Glasgow based CBES.
