Penrith and Eden Museum is opening its doors today for a special Archaeological Finds Day, inviting the public to bring in their historical discoveries for expert identification and recording.
Running from 11am to 3pm, the event is completely free and welcomes anyone with portable archaeological or historical objects—whether found while walking the dog, digging the garden, or tucked away in the back of a drawer.
The day is being hosted in collaboration with the region’s Finds Liaison Officer on hand to examine and identify artefacts and provide insight into their origin, age, and significance. The artefacts will recorded by the region’s Portable Antiquities Scheme Finds Liaison Officer.
Whether you're a seasoned metal detectorist or simply curious about that old coin or pottery shard you found locally, this is a rare chance to uncover the hidden stories behind the objects.
Pop along, explore the museum, and perhaps discover that your find is more valuable to history than you ever imagined!
Today (Saturday 26 July),11am–3pm – Free Entry
