“contract will not be signed” - Council Pulls Plug on Penrith Town Hall Tender

Westmorland and Furness Council has cancelled a tender procurement to deliver the councils plans for the refurbishment of Penrith Town Hall into a Creating a Creative and Community Hub.

The council had last month launched a £180,000 tender procurement call for a consultancy team to design and deliver the re-purposing of Penrith Town Hall into a Creative and Community Hub.

The council today issued a notice that it would not now be signing a contract and has cancelled the tender procurement call.

Westmorland and Furness Council said “The Council has taken the decision not to proceed with the current procurement process. A revised opportunity will be published in the New Year”.

The council had secured £3 million in government funding for the scheme and a further £500,000 ring fenced from the Borderlands Place Programme with the Council cabinet due in January to agree the level and source of match funding for the Creative and Community Hub costs not currently covered within current available budget of the council.

Westmorland and Furness Council has been asked for comment and we will bring their response once received.
