Collision Demolishes Section of 600 Year Old Eamont Bridge

A car has crashed into Eamont Bridge this afternoon causing significant damage to the 600 year old stone bridge.

Police attended the scene that temporarily blocked part of the A6 and moved the vehicle to enable traffic to pass over the bridge following the collision. No one was reported as injured as a result of the collision.

The bridge is currently open to traffic but a large section of the 600 year old bridge structure has been demolished in the collision.
