Changes to bin collections over festive period

Westmorland and Furness residents are being reminded that bin collection dates will be different over the Christmas and New Year periods.

There will be a small number of changes to Westmorland and Furness residents' waste and recycling collections over the festive season.

For the Eden locality (general waste blue bags only):

* Please note these collections will be earlier than the normal collection day.

Waste and recycling collections return to their regular scheduled days from Monday 5 January in Eden.

As usual for this time of year when less garden waste is generated, collections of garden waste have now been paused until the New Year, with collections resuming in the Eden area from February.

You can put large cardboard boxes, Christmas cards (except glitter ones) and wrapping paper (excluding foil or glittery paper) in your paper and card recycling container. Aluminium foil (clean) can also be recycled with your cans and tins.

Household Waste Recycling Centre (HWRC) will remain open as usual throughout the festive season but will be closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day. Opening hours at :Penrith (Flusco): are 8am - 6pm, Monday-Sunday, The councils HWRC permit helpline will be closed on bank holidays and weekends.

HWRC that are open on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve will close at 4pm.
