A Carlisle man has been arrested following reports of eggs being thrown at vehicles and pedestrians from a vehicle travelling through Penrith and surrounding rural areas.
The incident happened on Sunday, August 23, when a silver pick-up was reported to have been driven through Penrith and other nearby rural areas, with occupants allegedly throwing eggs at vehicles and pedestrians.
The vehicle was seen traveling along Beacon Edge around 5pm on Sunday with the occupant throwing eggs from the vehicle at People and vehicles.
Officers from the Eden Neighbourhood Policing team travelled to Carlisle on Wednesday to carry out arrest enquiries with the assistance of Carlisle Neighbourhood Policing Team officers.
A male was subsequently arrested on suspicion of multiple offences including criminal damage, public order and assault.
He has since been released on bail with conditions preventing him from entering Eden.
Police have issued a strong message following the arrest.
“As one of your neighbourhood officers, the message is clear: If you are intending to come to Penrith to upset local residents and commit criminal offences, you are not welcome.”
