Builders Of The Future Pupils from North Lakes School Learn about Penrith Housing Development

Pupils at North Lakes School in Penrith recently visited a nearby housing development to learn more about what goes into building homes and received a donation of reflective vests.

The housebuilder gave the school 35 reflective vests for its pupils to wear whilst walking down busy streets, ensuring they can be easily seen on the roads when visibility is reduced on darker mornings and evenings.

The hi-vis jackets were also donned as part of an outing at the nearby Carleton Chase development in Penrith, where a handful of pupils were taken on a site tour to learn about what goes into building a home, as well as important messages on safety around active building sites.

Kay Campbell, SENDO and Specialist Teacher at North Lakes School, said: “Following a lovely visit to the Carleton Chase development, we were very grateful to receive such a generous donation. We encourage as many of our children as possible to walk to school and we enjoy visiting so many places with our children during the school day. This kind donation of hi-vis vests means that our children will be clearly visible and safe as they walk around Penrith.”

Barratt Homes organises site visits like this for a wide range of schools and colleges across the country, introducing the next generation of housebuilders to the industry and giving them first-hand experiences on sites under construction.

Alan Watt, Sales Director at Barratt Homes Manchester, said: “We were pleased to welcome the students of North Lakes School to Carleton Chase. We hope they enjoyed being on the development and getting a glimpse of modern construction. Hopefully this experience will encourage them to see a future within the industry.

“With the hi-vis jackets, we want to ensure the children in the local community remain visible and safe when walking to and from school and our donation will hopefully help the pupils at North Lakes School when they are on school excursions too.

“We actively support school pupils at this time of year as we endeavour to help their efforts to commute on foot and the vests have proven to be both effective and practical.”

Barratt Homes’ hi-vis vests will be useful all year round and are certain to benefit the pupils in their future journeys to and from school.

Carleton Chase, located on Carleton Avenue, features a wide range of two, three and four bedroom homes for property seekers in Penrith.
