999-emergency number experiencing technical issues

Update 10:25am - Cumbria emergency services are now reporting services are restored and 999 should be used for emergency calls.

Other parts of the UK are still experiencing issue with the 999 service as BT works to restore the service to all areas.


999 services are facing issues across Cumbria this morning due to a technical fault that is impacting a number of areas, many 999 calls are not connecting as a result of the technical fault.


Until further notice Cumbria Police have said to call 101 in an emergency. Adding that you should ONLY call in an emergency.

If require Cumbria Fire Service and cannot get through call

111 should be used if you need emergency medical assistance.
