Another Week of Closures Along A6 Between Clifton and Eamont Bridge

Following last weeks closure of the A6 through Hackthorpe this week the A6 between Eamont Bridge and Clifton is to close for upto 4 days from 8am tomorrow (Monday the 24th February 2025) through until 5pm on Thursday 27th February 2025 for Westmorland and Furness Highways to carry out Pre Surface Dressing, Patching and Civil Works along the length of highway between the A6 Clifton North 30mph signs to the Mini roundabout at the junction of the A6 with the B5320 at Eamont Bridge.

Pedestrian and dismounted cyclist access is permitted through the road closure extents and access for Emergency Vehicles will be maintained where required for the duration of the works.

Westmorland and Furness Council have put in place a temporary traffic regulation order that will prohibit any vehicle from proceeding along the sections of road.

A way for pedestrians and dismounted cyclists will be maintained at all times through the road closure extents and access for Emergency Vehicles will be maintained where required for the duration of the works.

The alternative route for vehicles will be signed and available via the unrestricted sections of the A6, B6261, M6 and the A66.

Westmorland and Furness Council has said “The works are scheduled to be complete before the Eamont and Shap by-election on Thursday 27 February to minimise disruption. However, as roadworks can sometimes be affected by unforeseen circumstances, we have a contingency plan in place to support voters.”

“If the works extend into Thursday, traffic lights will be used to maintain access and ensure voters can reach polling stations without difficulty.”

“We appreciate your patience and cooperation as we complete these essential improvements.”
