A66 to close overnight as more heavy snow forecast

National Highways have announced the A66 will be closed to all traffic from 8pm tonight (Saturday, 14th February) ahead of forecast heavy snow overnight.

A yellow weather warning for snow and ice is in place for the North from 9pm, through to 10am Sunday (15th February) morning.

National Highways have said: Due to the Met Office forecast of heavy snow overnight we will be implementing a full closure of the A66 between the A685 at Brough (Cumbria) and the A67 at Bowes in both directions at 8pm tonight.”

Hundreds of vehicles became stuck due to snow forced the road to be closed overnight on Thursday through until Midday Friday.
