A66 Now Closed to high sided and vulnerable vehicles due to strong winds

National Highways have closed the A66 in both directions between the M6 in Penrith, Cumbria and the A1M Scotch Corner in North Yorkshire to high sided and vulnerable vehicles due to strong winds over the Pennines.

The Met Office has issued Yellow Weather warning for heavy rain and strong winds across the North Pennines that are now starting to impact the region.

The current weather warnings are in place through until 6pm on Monday. Road users wishing to travel across the Pennines are advised to plan ahead and consider alternate routes such as the A69.
