29 Year Old Penrith Man Charged with Four Offences After High Speed Chase Through Town

Police have named the 29 year old man arrested on Saturday after a high-speed chase through residential streets in Penrith on Saturday evening.

David Winkley- Balmer, 29 years old, from Wordsworth Street, has today been charged Officers secured four charges against him of attempted burglary, theft of fuel, theft of a tool bag and going equipped to steal.

Cumbria Police said “Excellent team work from all officers involved to secure the charges.”

“Cumbria Police will continue to tackle rural and urban crimes”.

In a separate incident on Saturday night a man was arrested following an altercation which occurred in Penrith town centre where a male pushed another male. Police are investigating the incident, and a male has been arrested for common assault.

A video circulating on social media claiming to show the incident has been secured as evidence by Police to use in the investigation.
