Summary

Your new Role

National Highways have an excellent opportunity for a Project Manager to join our construction projects delivery team in the North West region. The Project Manager will plan and manage the delivery of a portfolio of highways construction, maintenance and improvement projects across various different assets, including roads / structures / technology / lighting.

The Project Manager will manage the performance of the project teams, multiple external contractors and consultants and will ensure adherence to governance, quality assurance, health and safety, technical and specialist standards to ensure successful delivery of agreed project outcomes.

This role is a hybrid mix of regular site and office attendance, alongside agile home working.

What you’ll lead on

Manage the delivery of a complex portfolio of interrelated highway construction projects within the Region’s rolling 5 year capital programme, across all stages of the project lifecycle, from design to introduction into service.
Commission, collaborate and manage the performance of multiple delivery partners, ensuring that project objectives and requirements are clearly understood and delivered, setting clear expectations for safety, Customer, time, cost and quality.
To comply with National Highways Quality Management System (QMS) on all projects to ensure delivery within prescribed parameters for quality, customer service levels, corporate standards, technical requirements and health and safety standards.
Project management, reporting and risk management against the capital expenditure budgets for all projects in scope, ensuring effective financial control and contractual administration practices are adhered to.
Proactively manage project interactions with communities, stakeholders, transport operators, road users and businesses.
To ensure compliance with relevant Health, Safety and Environmental legislation, including CDM 2015 regulations.
To support the delivery of scheme specific Communication Plans, proactively managing customers’ perception of the schemes in scope, to maintain or improve customer satisfaction scores; respond to customer enquiries and other scheme related matters as and when required.

To be successful

Recognised qualification in relevant engineering discipline and/or Project or Programme Management.
Experience in the delivery of Civil Engineering projects.
Evidence of contract management with specific experience of NEC forms of contract.
High safety standards and detailed understanding of CDM Regulations.
Experience of customer and stakeholder consultation and engagement.
