

Drivers Warned to Expect Delays on Sunday Due to Slow-Moving Abnormal Load is Heading North on M6
An abnormal load movements is taking place along the M6 Northbound past Penrith tomorrow (Sunday 18th January).
The slow-moving abnormal load will travel between Heysham docks to Harker near Carlisle via M6 Northbound to gain access to the Harker site.
The supergrid transformers are estimated to arrive late afternoon and subject to weather and delays expected to pass by Penrith around 2pm although this is subject to change depending on weather and departure delays.
The transformer is part of National Grids new £60m 132,000 volt substation at Harker near Carlisle.
Long delays could occur between Kendal and Penrith with lane closures and speed restrictions in place near Tebay and Clifton as part of highways and network rail projects taking place.
National Highways are advising drivers to allow more time for journeys and to take care and patience when overtaking in lane three.
